Why do dentists recommend braces?
We recommend braces for some patients, because straight teeth improve self-esteem and contribute to oral health. Crooked teeth make proper brushing and flossing difficult, and they provide areas for bacteria to hide. What kinds of braces are available?
Advances in orthodontic technology have given us several kinds of braces. We have traditional wire-and-bracket braces, which can be metal or clear, depending on your preference. We also offer lingual, or concealed, braces. Lingual braces use wire and brackets, but they're placed behind the teeth, so no one will know you're receiving orthodontic treatment.
The latest in teeth-straightening technology, Invisalign clear braces, uses a series of clear, removable trays to gradually reposition teeth. Unlike traditional orthodontics, Invisalign is only for adults. Dr. Do and Dr. Choy will discuss all of your straightening options and recommend a treatment plan that fits your goals and lifestyle.
